Onesie vs Sleeper for newborn?

My daughter will be born end of Sept in Pennsylvania (start of Fall). The pregnancy checklists say to have plenty of onsies and sleepers, but why both? Isn’t a sleeper just a cuter version of a onsie with long sleeves and long pants with feet? When would she wear a onsie instead of something warmer?

I had sleep sacks with my girls, and LOVED them! They are so much easier to deal with if you have to change diapers in the middle of the night, instead of having to take the baby’s legs out of the sleeper. The sleepers and sleep sacks provide the blanket feeling, instead of an actual blanket, which can suffocate a baby. If a baby wears a onsie to bed, it might get too cold, and sleep uncomfortably.
