My IVF didn’t work, right?
I just had my first IVF transfer of 2 embies on 2/17 and am on the progesterone suppositories and the Vivelle Dot patches. But I just don’t feel anything. I’ve been crampy since the transfer, and that’s the only thing that’s unusual. Generally, I start getting cramps exactly 7 days before I’m supposed to get my period. And I know all about the uterus making room causing cramps, but I don’t have to pee more often, I’m not nauseous, and I’m not tired, all things I experienced with My First Pregnancy that resulted in a miscarriage 2 years ago. Now I’m scheduled for my first beta on Monday, 3/1 and I almost don’t want to go because I’m so convinced that it didn’t work. Anyone out there do IVF and didn’t have any Pregnancy Symptoms and it turns out they WERE pregnant? I’m dying for some hope.
Everybody is different, and every pregnancy is different, even in the same woman.
I didn’t do IVF, but I have been pregnant 3 times and have never experienced any symtpoms during the two week wait.
You simply cannot tell anything about a possible pregnancy by symptoms because they are often the same as menstrual symptoms, or can be totally absent. Its not called the two week WAIT for nothing. All you can do is wait.
Good luck on Monday!

Pregnancy Wishes & Ivf Dreams: A Story & Lessons about Life, Love & Infertility $17.48 Once upon a time, equipped with a solid marriage, driven careers, and a recently finished basement, my husband and I were ready to start a family. Like many 30-something couples, we thought it would be easy. Unfortunately, after nearly 18 months of doing things "the old fashioned way," my husband was diagnosed with a latent birth defect. It rendered us virtually infertile, not to mention devastated and confused. The remarkable thing about confusion is that it can spur knowledge and strength. Infertility did just that for us. We moved forward to try to have a child with the help of science and technology. Before we could blink, we were in the midst of monumental efforts to finance our baby-making venture, ordering medications on the Internet, and undergoing multiple, sometimes risky, and invasive, procedures. We endured it all for a single chance to have a child of our own. Pregnancy Wishes & IVF Dreams: A Story & Lessons About Life, Love, & Infertility is a compelling and insightful look at one couple’s struggle with male factor infertility and everything that goes with it. From failed attempts at conception, batteries of fertility tests, and a devastating diagnosis, to IVF/ICSI, other treatments, and ultimately the birth of fraternal twin daughters, Pregnancy Wishes & IVF Dreams offers readers a sense of shared experience through a real-time, personal story. The book also provides first-hand insights, guidance, and quotes covering a range of universal issues including dealing with jealousy, great expectations, doctors, risk, finances, and family. Finally, Pregnancy Wishes comes full circle, leaving readers with twelve, invaluable lessons-learned about life, love, infertility, and numerous questions, and challenges in between. Like an understanding friend, Pregnancy Wishes & IVF Dreams will leave you feelings less alone, and more empowered as you cope with infertility. |

Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?: Unexplained Infertility, Miscarriage & IVF Failure Explained $19.98 The latest tests and treatments to help women conceive and carry to term are outlined in this book. The reasons for their so-called "unexplained" IVF failure and pregnancy loss are also comprehensively explained for the first time ever. Pioneering of this new field of medicine is Dr. Beer, who has helped thousands of couples achieve pregnancy and achieved success rates of more than 85% within three natural cycles or IVF attempts. The average age of these patients is over 35. Having worked with more than 7,000 couples, Dr. Beer has identified five types of immune system response that cause reproductive failure: Category 1 is the least severe and Category 5 is most severe. Many infertile couples find that immunotherapy alone can enable them to become parents, without the requirement for IVF. The same is also true for recurrent miscarriage patients. This thoroughly researched and referenced text includes contributions from world-leading professionals, including Dr. Carolyn Coulam, Dr. William Matzner and Dr. Geoffrey Sher. The acclaimed holistic practitioner Zita West has also contributed a special chapter on natural therapies and diet specifically for those with immune-based fertility problems and recurrent miscarriage and Dr. Christo Zouves, author of "Expecting Miracles," has provided the Foreword. As an established and reputable field of reproductive medicine, many centers in the US and the rest of the world now specialize in immunotherapy and a selection of these is listed in the resources section. |

Pregnancy Blues $11.99 It should be a time of joyous anticipation–the happiest time in a woman’s life. But for many women, the joys of pregnancy are clouded by feelings of fear, sadness, and confusion. And unlike postpartum depression, which is widely portrayed in the media and embraced by the medical community, depression during pregnancy has been rarely discussed and often misunderstood–until now. In this groundbreaking book–the first to focus exclusively on depression in pregnancy–Dr. Shaila Kulkarni Misri, a leading reproductive psychiatrist, draws on her twenty-five years of clinical practice and research to offer hope, help, and healing–as well as a provocative, myth-shattering examination of a subject that has too long been shrouded in darkness. The numbers are surprising: up to 70 percent of pregnant women experience some degree of depressive symptoms, and of those, 12 percent meet the diagnostic criteria for major depression. Although it is at least as common as postpartum depression, which occurs after a child’s birth, pregnancy-related depression is often cloaked in silence, shame, and denial. Pregnancy Blues lifts the veil on this heartbreaking–and very treatable– illness, examining the key social and biological factors that can come together during pregnancy to create a climate in which depression and anxiety thrive, as well as offering the many effective treatments that are available. Discover: • How to recognize the signs and symptoms of depression–and know when to seek help • The role of female hormones: why women are more vulnerable to depression than men • How depression can “hide” behind physical complaints, such as back, stomach, or even chest pain • The unspoken connection between infertility and depression • The antidepressant controversy: the facts on specific drugs, their safety–and when medication is the right choice • Breastfeeding and medication–the risks and benefits Plus helpful self-tests and resources, information on alternative treatment options–from therapy to acupuncture–and much more. A work of daring and compassion, Pregnancy Blues challenges the underlying traditions and beliefs surrounding pregnancy and motherhood–and explores how those misconceptions have led to the drastic underdiagnosis and undertreatment of depression during pregnancy. A must-read for women and those who love them, Pregnancy Blues is at once an extraordinary roadmap to healing and an eye-opening report on a medical issue that no woman can afford to miss. From the Hardcover edition. |

IVF & Everafter $22.99 IVF and Ever After focuses on IVF treatment, its effects on families and relationships, and how to minimize the stress it causes. A groundbreaking work — no other book deals with the emotional experiences involved in IVF treatment and bringing up an IVF child. • IVF clinics are overflowing with new patients and have little room for the ‘personal touch’• 80 million couples worldwide couples experience infertility • This book is for couples thinking about IVF treatment, those undergoing treatment, and IVF parents who are experiencing emotional ‘lows’ without knowing why • It is also an invaluable guide for health professionals working with IVF families IVF births make up a highly significant part of the fertility rate. The current overall success rate of IVF is approaching 25 per cent — twice what it was twenty years ago. Experts predict that we will approach a figure of 30 IVF births per 100 births by around 2030. IVF mothers are three times more likely to attend early parenting centers for help. IVF clinicians are now emphasizing to parents that stress plays a sizeable role in treatment success. Research has shown that women undergoing treatment for infertility have a similar level of stress as women dealing with life-threatening illnesses, such as cancer or heart disease. IVF and Ever After discusses the latest international research, bringing together the most up-to-date information for parents. It moves beyond the ‘here and now’ to look at issues families and practitioners rarely consider, such as telling a child about IVF conception, what to do with spare frozen embryos, and the implications of legislation to make surrogacy easier. This is also an essential read for any health professional involved with IVF, who rarely see how families cope away from the clinic, and it will be invaluable for GPs, who are seeing more and more patients who have been affected by IVF. |
